Match Report
Written by Ian McKayTurned up on Wednesday to be greeted with the task of picking against Ben.
Lots of people turned up in fact to many and so Geoff stood down. We began picking and unfortunately for me I missed that Ali was playing so it ended up that Ben had numerous runners whilst I had numerous centre backs.
The game started and game resembled the Alamo as we repelled attack after attack, eventually another attack down the right resulted in a cross which was neatly tucked home by one two ghosting in at the far post. As a result of some real effort from Nutter he tore his hamstring. I did consider asking him to lie on the goal line in order to assist Ken but thought better of it. Ken was playing very well in goal but was sharing his thoughts on the constant attacking from the whites.
I made a tactical change by dropping back and pushing Mike forward and this reaped dividend immediately as we equalised. Unfortunately the whites regained their lead from the kickoff. For the next twenty minutes the yellows so how managed to repel attack after attack and in fact but for a couple of clearances off the line the yellows would have leveled. With about two minutes to go Gary scored a third much to the relief of the whites.
I take full responsibility for the mess in picking the team however I could not have been prouder of my team who certainly put a shift in.
