Match Report
Written by Mark AustinA slow start to the game with very few chances, in fact very few moments of any real quality. Thankfully there were some fireworks in the distance which kept me entertained whilst stuck in goal. The only memorable moment in the first half came when Laurie diverted a pass across the face of his own goal which nearly crept into the corner.
We changed shape after about 20 minutes with Mac dropping back to defence which meant Gary and Chris were able to start pushing up and putting the whites defence under some more pressure. The game was still close with few chances for either side. The yellows hit the post a couple of times but we only took the lead with about 20 minutes to go as Geoff headed the ball on setting Gary clear of the defence. He kept his shot down and it had enough power to take it past Dave W into the net.
The lead was increased to 2-0 a few minutes later when Gary returned the favour with a pass to release Geoff in front of goal. His shot hit the keeper but fortunately (or unfortunately depending on which side you were on) the rebound hit Brian and went in.
A good win in the end and a solid performance from the Yellows defence to keep a clean sheet. Paul had a MoM performance making committed challenges throughout and was assisted by Mac when he dropped back to keep Ben largely out of the game.
