Match Report
Written by Noel AustinWith 17 turning up the sides were uneven, and given the 4-1 drubbing Brian received last time we met I thought I'd give him a chance with the extra man. I let Brian take the wealth of the experienced Plus 30's whilst taking it upon myself to nurture the younguns in the art of football, particularly in the throw in department.
Whites were off to a sparkling start with some great early pressure in the mid field, and a couple of early chances for Nick and Gary. As time went on frustration set in and Yellows had a couple of break throughs with Ken quick off his line to frustrate Chris and Richie several times.
After the last fiasco of Brian swapping sides he proceeded to stick with form and do it again. Great, I thought, all we need now is for him to start throwing it into the back of his own net again. This was sadly not to be, but finally Gary's persistence paid off winning the ball and setting up Andy who drilled it under Brians foot into the corner of the net. 1-0 Whites with 9 minutes to go.
Yellows continued to apply the pressure and Whites were struggling to play out of their own half. Geoff swapped with Richie into a forward position in what was to prove a decisive move when he nodded it in at the back post in Fergie time. Reasonably happy with the final 1-1 result though.
Some good performances for Whites tonight but I think man of the match for me has to be Kenny who kept us in the game!
