Match Report
Written by Chris StewartIt was my first time picking this season and as I was defending the Captains cup I needed to get off with a good start! I won the toss and decided to pick first. Turnout was low so it was only going to be six a side and even teams.
The game started quite evenly with Harvey's team defending very well, although not making many chances. After about 15 minutes we broke through with a goal from Gary's toe end that reluctantly made it's way over the line. Then there was another goal from Gary as the result of a well worked One-Two between me and him.
At 2-0 Harvey's team decided to swap ends hoping to get the advantage of the wind that would be blowing towards us. I must admit that it did work because we lost no balls in the first half then we lost 2 after swapping ends! A few shots on goal were dragged well over the crossbar. The wind seemed to just lift the ball into the air without much effort at all-Most notably from Neil and then from Bob who tried to show him how to do it properly! Gary stuck a third in the back of the net and finally Neil with a screaming strike from 18 yards.
Luck was on our side, I think in total, Andy, Richie and Ben must of hit the crossbar and post about 8 times! Still no goals for the whites after so many decent attempts on goal. Well done to the yellows in the end that just managed to defend when it was needed to see through the game in what was a comfortable victory I the end. Man of the match Gary
