This game was the first leg of the league pairing. 17 players braved the cold, wet and windy late November evening. Nick won the toss and faced the first decision of the evening, first pick or extra man. Tough call but 1st pick got the nod. On paper the teams looked pretty evenly matched and so it proved for the first 20 minutes. Paul Hackett (playing for Alan) was ghosting into the box on a regular basis. His deflected header would have been too good for a keeper who knew his angles and positions, however no such keeper was on duty and the consequently the ball went to hand without difficulty. Disaster avoided for the time being, and Nick's defence looked pretty solid. Five minutes later Alan's boys had got themselves on the score sheet via an effort from Paul which was deflected by Gary into the goal. The score remained that way until well into the second half when a through ball to Mac (who was out of position as a result of kicking the ball back to the lads on the next pitch) was brought under control with a single touch followed by a looping shot which found the back of the net via the post.
Apart from Mac's skilful finish the quality of shooting left quite a bit to be desired as evidenced by the "ball over the fence count". We were down to our last ball for the last 5 minutes of the game.

Well done Alan, there is still some life left in this fixture.
