Match Report

Written by Neil Parker
Apologies for the lateness of the report. Points dropped, hopefully I've not done 'a brian' by the end of the season!

Personally, Frustrating game last week, the sides were picked with odd numbers and i had choice so decided to go for the extra man. This gave Andy first pick and he did choose well, with most of "the runners" in his team, however on balance I did, in my opinion, have a decent side myself. Having a -2 goal deficit from the first leg I opted for the Moysey approach and sure up a defensive squad looking to catch Andy's team on the counter.

We started with Geoff in goal as he had just returned after weeks out, he played well in goal, providing some vital stops and nicks around the post, we also had a good defensive line of Laurie, Dave and Bob. Myself and Gary were provided the width down the flanks and carl was in the centre behind the striker Mac. Andy set his team up using the advantages of the pace of Ali and chris up top and the calm passing of Blake, with a solid back line.

The game got underway and my Yellows were first to score with some good passing counter attacking play, I had gotten the ball and passed it to Gary. Gary ran toward the goal and laid in an assist for for Mac to bury into the net. 1-0. (1-2).

For a moment I thought this tie was swinging maybe into my favour as we had pressed to level the aggregate score, however, we made some switches to rotate the goalie and things from that point seemed to go downhill. Ali scored one of his strikes from wide, which looked to be being saved by Laurie, only for it to take a deflection into the net. 1-1 (1-3).

Further to this, as we went all-out attack, we were caught again on the break with chris being put in to seal the victory for Andy. 1-2. (1-4).

My M.O.M. - Bob, played well and was solid at the back for the most part, hard to pick really given that we lost. p.s. Gary - if you wanted it; Must score more!!

Well played Andy, all the best for the cup run!

Also Merry Christmas to all at Plus 30s and their families.
