Match Report

Written by Gary Parker
With the league season officially over, (congratulations Neil), it was time to start clearing up the remaining cup fixtures.

With guests now welcome to take part, we had Ross and Rod return.

Both team captains started in goal and watched how the play unfolded, which was mostly played in the middle of the park, with neither team having any real dangerous chances.

About 10 minutes in to the game, you could see Ben have a lightbulb moment, when he realised I was actually in our goal, thus unleashing a powerful direct shot from range, luckily I had plenty of time to see it coming and compose myself to collect it safely. They'll be calling me Gary safe hands next!!

The first goal came when the Whites defence lost possession around the halfway line, a pass was played in to Mac on the wing, who cut it back across the box for Mark ("HOLD IT!!!"), who slotted it nicely into the far corner. 1 - 0.

With the Yellows now piling on the pressure, we grabbed another two goals. One was an own goal from Brian, who intercepted a cross whilst running towards his own goal and the other came from Nick, who drove home a shot from a tight angle.

The Whites clawed one back when Hackett intercepted a throw from the keeper, and laid it on to Chris to tap in. The Whites were forced to try and score from range, which gave Nick the opportunity to show the crowd some theatrical saves. Even Brian tried his luck, with a toe banger from 30 yards, which swerved left, then right, and out, just missing the corner flag.

The final goal came from a corner, when Rod swung in a cross, Mac lost his marker and played a deft touch to help it find its way into the net. 4-1.

Well played guys. Good performances from the guests, of whom I will award my M.O.M to Rod, who seems to have grasped the 4 touch rule this week.
