Match Report
Written by Andy SmithFirst game back after 4 weeks off and thrust straight into the captain's role, against a young fit and in form Neil, rather than my intended adversary, Southern Senior, who is, well, older than me. Things got better when Neil lost the toss and with 9 a side, a no brainier first pick option. However, as we left the changing room, it became apparent that Laurie who was on the board was not actually there! Too late to fully re pick, a quick switch of player and I stuck with the 8.
Some good football from both sides, yellows going close a few times whilst at the other end, Geoff was quickly off his line twice to smother dangerous through balls from Mark. Deadlock broken when Paul headed down Chris long throw, hit Carl and went in. As it was heading meekly toward goal we'll give it to Paul. Yellows increased their lead when young Nick fired in a shot which several players on both side dummied before it ended up in the far corner of the net. Nick said it was a shot, so we will credit him with his first goal for the club - it is the season of good will. Gary fired in the best goal of the night before Mac scrambled in a deserved consolation goal for whites with the last kick of the game which may yet prove to be valuable for Neil. Result 3-1 to Yellows but a good match all round.
MoM Laurie - for not being there and saving me the picking dilemma and fathering at a least one of the goal scorers!
