Match Report
Written by Rod HolroydI hope this match report reads ok as l am currently typing it out on my phone as a passenger travelling up the M6.
With numbers low this week the honours of picking were thrust upon me and Ross. I had first pick with Ross having the advantage of extra man and it certainly made the difference as the game went on.
We kicked off slightly late with Geoff trying some under handed tactics of leaving the kit bag in the dressing room with goal keeper gloves in it. However, when the match got under way it was about even with my team working hard to contain the extra man.
Ross played Woody up front and wide in the first half which nearly paid off when he hit the bar with a long range dipping effort and then later struck hard and low just past the post. Ross and Blake were bossing the midfield and stroking the ball around making fun of us. There was a great pass from Woody to set up Dave O for the first but to be honest Brian who was in goal for us hadn't warmed up his right leg enough and it didn't stretch far enough to stop the ball going in the bottom corner.
I thought after conceding the goal we were still well in the game with Ali & Chris pressing hard for the equaliser. At one point, we were pressing hard and l thought the goal was going to come when, you'll never guess........ the flood lights behind our goal went out, total darkness with shadows running around. As l was puffing hard, l decided to go in goal and unleash Brian in midfield but l could see him or any of our other yellows. Next, l saw a shadow coming towards me with the ball, who turned out to be Dave O, he shot, l made the save with my Tits, sorry chest, rebounded off and fell to his feet, 2 - 0 and it was pretty much all over.
Chris, Ali, Mike & Brian had shots on goal but to be honest the came up against a giant in goal who was on top form and for that reason my MOM goes to Geoff who won Whites the game.
Well done Ross good team selection and fielded well.
