Match Report
Written by Andy SmithThe night started with confusion as I told the guys in the other changing room the wrong colour shirts! I will blame that on jet lag, irregular sleep and only waking up an hour before kick off - some might say I still had not!
First pick to me but I felt from the outset that might be negated by Geoff's intention to play the whole game in nets - good keepers are like gold dust. Still, happy with a pacy and youthful line up though. Ross was obviously still having trouble with shirt colours as he skilfully set up three early chances for the Whites (yes he was playing in yellow) which I was happy to see glide by the posts. Yellows settled, dominated play only to see chance after chance thwarted by the excellent Geoff, supported by some stout defending.
Whites did look dangerous in the break though. Eventually Ali forced the opener home, although Geoff still got hands on that. Alas, it did not last, a well driven corner by Rod, a flailing foot and slice by Mike who had to try to clear the ball but it ended up in the net. Then more chances for Yellows, but in the late stages Whites could have taken it with 3 good chances, so in the end a fair result 1-1 and happy with that. MOM undoubtedly Geoff
