This was the second game for Ken and I as Captains, after I had won the first game 2 - 0 when I elected for the extra man and hence Ken had had first pick. This week Ken had choice and opted for the first pick of the 14 members who turned up. Geoff ended up as last pick, a club first?
The night was wet as a prelude to Doris Day's arrival on Thursday, but not cold or windy and the football was of a good general standard.

Early on in the game I introduced myself to Ross, who managed to run into my foot, knee and thigh before realising that he wasn't going to have the easy ride he originally thought he was when he lined up against me. By the end of the game he'd retreated to just in front of Dave W as a second left back! Job done. Ken will feel let down by his first picks. Blake has the scoring skills of Lucas Leiva, Ross retreated as detailed above, Chris was ineffective, and only Neil could be described as above average.

For the white team, it was notable the way Geoff managed to race out of his area on a number of occasions, frustrating (and frightening) Chris in the process. Goals by Dave O and then Mike made the game safe and ensured I had a smooth journey into the Captains Cup (rightly so as the current holder of the cup). Mike, Paul and Harvey had good games, and although Mac managed to miss / had thwarted a whole number of good chances he benefitted from my well know management technique for encouraging him to reach his full potential, and I think it was well received. So, onwards and upwards, and let's hope all the injured members recover quickly so that we can get back to a crowded pitch and therefore Dave W and I can stop marauding up and down the pitch.
