Match Report

An odd double

Written by Dave Owen

Despite it being the long awaited Duffers Cup final two cried off due to the weather even before the teams could be picked!

And so it was 9 vs 9 as the two Dave's went head to head. Straight from the kick off the yellows seemed to be pressing the advantage and began to dominate the ball. This resulted in a few half chances and shots wizzing past both post and over the bar. And soon the dead lock was broken with Andy H the scorer. The goal seemed to wake the whites up and we began to play a bit making some good chances of our own. But the second goal of the match came from the other way and the yellows made it 2-0 with Ben Mc finishing neatly.

The middle part of the game then became a good competitive affair with chances at both ends and some good all round football played by both teams. It appeared that maybe the yellows started to tire and the whites became the better side for the first time. This was rewarded with a goal back and it was very much game on. But as the whites attacked with more and more vigor, keeping good possession but not creating enough chances, the game was wrapped up as Andy H expertly flicked a long pass into the top corner.

And so it was a second title for me of the season completing an odd double. Definitively proving that I am rubbish at picking!
