Match Report

Written by Phil Mealor

The pre-match entertainment got underway at 7:50 with a Geoff impersonation of Hitler complete with moustache & bobble hat (did Hitler wear a bobble hat?) asking why the club he had built on rules had fallen into disrepute last week.

Then to the serious stuff of picking.

For the second week in a row the captains were dad v son surely as corrupt as Uefa with Roma selling tickets for the Liverpool game on the Wed before the draw on Friday. Picking wasn't too bad but as always a compromise.

I thought we started well with a lot of possession but somewhat ineffective in front of goal. After about 20 mins Andrew picked one of or defenders pockets & fed Ali whose low shot went under me in goal 1-0 Yellows.

The yellows than came to life & again Andrew harried our midfield to feed Mac 2-0 Yellows. Finally we came to life & Harvey finished well after surging forward out of defence. 2-1. This gave the whites life & we played well for Ross to finish well at the near post from a Ben cross. 2-2

I thought we could win it but were under the cosh a bit & Dave O picked up a loose rebound out of our defence to make it 3-2 to the Yellows. We didn't lose our cool & pressed well for Ross to finish at the near post, a shot that Geoff could only push into his own net. Literally the last kick of the game 3-3.

A good game & fair result & the only game I can remember where every dad played against their son.

Thank to Ross at the compromise paid off!

Man of the match for me was Andrew as he was at the heart of everything yellows did. Corrupt as Uefa I know but hey I'm doing the match report!
