WhatsApp message from Hitler: don’t forget to do the match report!! What report?? Merde...
So here I am on my (delayed once again!!) Geneva to Liverpool Easyjet flight writing these few lines...
Ali and I were drawn as captains for this cup game on this lovely evening at the Vauxhall sport centre..
As a true gentleman* I decided to let Ali to have 1st pick and also promised not to pick his lad who yet had just been voted MOM the week before. Silly me (or F***ing idiot as some of you might say)!
To be honest I thought that we were ready for a good even game of football and the first part of the game confirmed that. If my recollection of the score is correct Brian's cool finish made it 2-1 for us and we could have had a 2 goals cushion without an outstanding save from Paul (in the box and he was not the 'keeper!). We then failed to punish them with the few other chances we had.
Unfortunately we lost Steve who was having another solid game so far at left back. I hope he’ll soon be back playing proper football. Being one man down completely disturbed our shape and from then on it was clear that I was not going to win anything this season! I really cannot remember much of the game after that apart from a great movement leading to an even better finish from our league winner Ben.
Unfortunately I had to rush home and could not join the lads in the pub for the match debrief but I’m sure Macca will agree with my choice of MOM: Monsieur Paul Hackett (and not only for his world class save!)
Congratulations to Ali et bonne chance pour la suite!
*The truth is that I could not be ar*ed writing the report so I let him go first not knowing that there was another special rule for cup games!!!
