Match Report

Written by Gary Parker

For the second time this season I am drawn against Dave O…who the hell picks these pairings!!

16 players on the night including two guests Ben and newcomer John.

With no recognised goalkeepers on the board, it was the captains who went in goal first. Terrible news for the Whites!

After 15 minutes I had let three goals in. Ross got the first. Finding himself in the area with half an empty net to aim at. Richie got the second. Possibly the best goal in his career. After a cleared corner, he took a long range punt that bounced back off the post, hit my arm and went back into the goal. I can’t remember the third, must have blocked it out, sorry!

I would have carried on in goal, but fortunately, Brian feigned an injury and volunteered to go in goal in order to get me out. Thanks Bri!

With someone in goal now capable of stopping the Yellows advances, we began to capitalise on the counter.

We got our first from a corner, Andy M looping a cross to the back post for me to head into the far corner. 3 - 1.

Paul deflected the ball into his own net for our second, (finally a bit of luck our way!)

3rd Ali split their defence with a ball through to Andy M who calmly slotted it home. Back level at 3 - 3.

Then two quick yellow goals. Killer!

With five minutes to go, Whites got one back. Another superb lofted ball to the back post (again!) by Andy for me to nod.

A sterling effort by the Whites. Being 3 goals down and coming back deserves big kudos.

M.O.M. I love Sylvain too but my man of the match is Andy M. Energetic and composed display helped us get back into the game. Ross also vital for the Yellows, 1 goal and 3 assists, we couldn’t contain him…bring Alan back quick!

Final score, 5 - 4. Well done to Dave and the Yellows, excellent performance. Good luck in the next round.
