Match Report

Written by Richard Southern

Whites - Southern Jnr (C) Nuttall N/Parker Statham Eyres Syvret Owen Brown

Yellow - Mealor Jnr (C) Hackett Woods Husson Evans Snr G/Parker Mealor Snr Greenall

Good numbers considering lots missing. Geoff went to see Kylie. Let that sink in. We can't miss football for having cancer, snapping knee ligaments, being by your wife's side whilst she gives birth, however its ok to go and see Kylie....yer big poof.

Great pressing aggressive football from both sides from start to finish, the usual high tempo from the clubs youngest and fittest members and lots of heavy puffing, falling over and clinching of hearts from the elder elite.

Richie going for the intelligent Christmas tree formation with a solid defense, creative midfield and dangerous attack, Andy going for his dad and all his old mates.

A fiery start and Eyres claiming and celebrating an assist like Everton have just won a corner. Slotting a through ball to Owen to finish deadly.

1-0 whites.

A quick response with some elegant passing from the yellows finding French midfield maestro Husson to slide a pass through to captain Andrew to pass into the net to equalise, leaving Nuttall bewildered.

1-1.

Geoff dancing to "I should Be So Lucky, Lucky Lucky Lucky" at this stage....

Game resumes play, Woods keeping hold of the ball only to be intercepted by a rapid Richie to slide the ball into Owen's path to finish for his and the whites second. (the word rapid used lightly obviously)

End to end football continued, impressive from both sides, every player giving their all, Neil taking out Gary, Husson and Southern exchanging heated blows, hand ball claims, dodgy throw ins, heavy clearances, Owen's flowing locks, Geoff singing along to "Do The Loco-Motion"

Another clearance from Syvret who has replaced Nuttall passing the ball out to Parker, to Statham, slotting through to Eyres, back to Brown who with great vision puts out wide to Southern who plays the long ball splitting Hackett and Greenall for Owen to complete his hat trick with the finest finish of the evening.

The whites think it's all over. The yellows press with Parker again, ball pings out of defence and is met by a superb strike from 25 yards out by Husson, finding the far corner. Syvret stunned.

3-2 whites. Yellows prepared to fight to the end. And to be fair, they did just that.

Fortunately Evans tried to make the last 3 minutes on his watch last 12 minutes (Laurie time like Fergie time) before finally admitting defeat, and called time, whilst the whites showed relief and Geoff bopped to "Je Ne Sais Pas Pourquoi"

Great game overall. Great competitiveness from both sides. Grateful for my team playing so brilliantly and commiserations to Andy, see you at the next hurdle. Chris still bottom of the league...

MoM - for me the 2 left backs, Nick for whites and Steve for the yellows, both had solid games and 2 good left feet. Well played chaps.

Poor show at Chimneys but as always those who attended (the usual suspects) lowered the tone over this weeks topics. All good fun, we are going to hell anyway.
