Match Report

Written by Richard Southern

Poor presence again unfortunately, members dropping like flies which is sad to see.

After the hiding last week the tables turned and I was handed first pick.

Only 6 a side so no real advantage with 10 quality players to choose from.

The captains started in goal but also had to put in a shift as an extra defender based on the low numbers and big pitch.

The game started fast with both sides enjoying good spells of possession, it was only a mater of time before someone scored.

Several interceptions from the fatter balder one in the whites nets started to find Gary in space who managed to slot home with a thunderbolt left foot drive past Laurie.

There must have been half an hour gone before another goal as both teams drove forward with high intensity, especially from Sylvain and Brian for the yellows.

An assist from mark put Gary through again to finish clinically.

2-0 whites.

Several missed chances from both sides was starting to frustrate both, Richie remained in goal and Laurie felt it was time to use his skills outfield.

Mac and Dave O being fed regularly from Carl Sylvain and Brian, but the long ball wasn’t quite working for them.

Interceptions from Mark and Nick finding Stevie G in oceans of room on the left using his experience to attack and get some crosses into the danger area.

Whites went 3-0 up after Richie provided another long throw out for Gary to score his hat trick.

Whites started to dominate with 2 superb efforts from Andy Eyres both finding the net. Some previous frustrating missed attempts from Andy quickly paid off.

The yellows had a turn to pull one back with a consolation goal, where Dave Owen rounded Richie (took a while to get around his big frame) and finished neatly.

5-1 the final score, which allowed Richie to leap laurie and take Gary with him.

Richie and Gary to pick next as new top two.

A few special mentions for the 12 turning up, and on match day in Barcelona as well.

Every player put in a shift tonight, but for me Steve Nick and Mark were unbelievable stopping every attack and passing the ball around comfortably.

When gary and andy are on their game it’s extremely difficult to defend against.

Unlucky Laurie, I’m certain you will bounce back in the very very near future after some superb performances of late.

MoM, so difficult to choose, however Mark Austin pips it, the new role of a defensive midfielder is working a Dewa for him in my opinion.
