Match Report

Written by Carl Syvret

Another night with the minimum turn out for an official game.

So captains cup it was with me having 1st pick.

When I arrived I found some young upstart having the temerity to get changed in my spec..cheeky person I thought.

Steve then introduced me to his son Jonny.

I was then informed that I was picking...I asked Steve is Jonny any good.. he replied he's OK but gave me the impression even though he was young and looked quite fit he wouldn't have been his first pick.

I passed this information on to Mark before we picked, and I think as the usual picking sequence unfolded, Jonny was picked 3rd or 4th by Mark.

Big mistake on my part, as Jonny is a good runner and an extremely good footballer.

So the game started with the usual of the captains going in goal.

(Sorry if I get the sequence wrong)

First blood I think was to the whites with Woody scoring a cracking headed OG.

This goal sparked the yellows into action, they came back strongly with Sylvain, Richie and runner Jonny dovetailing very well, within 10 - 15 mins the whites were 2-1 down.

Then to add to my poor choice of picking, Jonny & Steve clashed which resulted in my star left back struggling, and having to replace me in goal.

The game then settled to become pretty even, with both teams playing really well picking up goals alternatively.

Again I'm sorry I can't remember the exact sequence and who scored the goals, I can however, remember somebody from the whites scored a cracker in the top left corner??Maybe somebody can enlighten us :D

The amount of goals scored then became an issue with us whites thinking we scored 7 but we were talked down with the yellows saying they had more, which to be fair was about right.

So there you have it 8-6 to the yellows. Good luck Mark in the next round.

MOM..It should really go to Jonny not only for being new and fitting in, but for his contribution to the game, even more so when I said to him he would probably end up in trouble with his mum for injuring his dad.

His reply was, she'll be made up and probably give me extra for my dinner. :D

But I'm going to give it to Woody because I thought he played really well at the back with some excellent deliveries to his attack.

But also more importantly I'm about to spend a week with him and he may do some deck swabbing for me. :D
