Match Report

Alas our league meeting could never be completed, so i was given a bye into the Captain's cup. A welcome bonus, only to be drawn against Bob!

In the dressing room, on paper the teams looked well balanced, although i realised i had no left sided players.

Sure enough, within 5 minutes, whilst Ken was still doing his pre game warm up on the next pitch, Andy Smith despatched an exquisite lob into the empty nets. Not a great start.

Whites soon got to grips with the notion that the game had started, and started to play the better football. Aly in particular raining shots in on goal, practice makes perfect as they say, and after two wayward strikes, smashed one in off the underside of the bar, after being set up by Andy E. 1-1

The game ebbed and flowed for the remainder of the half, with chances at either end - most notably, the yellows hitting the post, with Ken narrowing the angle.

Swapped ends at half time, as the wind got up to around 1mph! Soon after the whites took the lead, after some good work from Geoff from our corner, he shifted the ball out to Dave Owen, who drilled the ball low into the corner, 2-1, and a deserved lead at this point.

They say you are most vunerable straight after you score, and so proved to be the case. The yellows pressed for an equaliser. A ball in from the right, eluded our goalkeeper, yet Phil was on hand on the goal line to clear the danger....oh wait, Phil was on the goal line to run the ball into our net :(
2-2 and a sucker punch goal.

Whites pushed again to find a winner but to no avail, with the yellows strong at the back. Replay it is!
