Another Wednesday evening of low numbers and the frustration is starting to show. This weeks outburst belongs to Brian and I find myself in agreement.
Having prepared for a kick-about as it looked as though we wouldn't have the numbers for an actual game...that was until Jonny had a last minute change of plan to rescue the game.
I found myself picking for the first time this season and it was in the captains cup and it was up against Ali. I opted for first choice over the extra man, Ali went all out attack with his choices, I went for a bit more of balanced approach.
Yellows struck early and with Dave running onto a loose ball which was heading to my goal I decided to chance the foot race.....wrong decision. An excellent touch from Dave to gently flick it round me and leaving an empty net. 1-0 Yellows
My team regained our composure and were keeping the ball nicely but it seemed we were missing the extra man and struggled to create clear chances and more often resulted in long shots. The Whites seemed quite happy to let us have the ball and when we did loose it they using the speed of Dave, Jonny and Ben to stretch Neil and Brian and keep myself busy.
Then the moment I was waiting for, Brian drilling a corner to near post, superbly steered past Ross in goal by Dave, perhaps a momentary lapse thinking it would count towards the golden boat? I didn't care. 1-1
Not long after we had drawn level, Jonny found himself up against Neil, Neil had repelled so many attacks to this point however Jonny, he's just a pain in the ass, managed to make yard and get a shot in, which annoyingly went through my legs.
Brian switched with me in goal for last 20 minutes and the whites pushed for another goal which didn't arrive.
Choosing a man of the match was tough, I thought both sides played really well and there were plenty of contenders, I'm going to go for Jonny, a well taken goal and a nuisance.
All the best to Ali for the rest of the competition.
