Match Report

Written by Blake Sheen

It was my second week back and the aches and pains from last week had only just subsided. Having to pick was not ideal as it limited my warm up time. Plus, I hate picking. Tom and I were captains, I decided to go for energy and legs and picked a team I was pretty happy with. That was until Chris told me it was his first week back, Andy Mealor told me he wasn't up to much running and Hackett told me he'd been up all night goosing his missus. I started in goal and continued to warm up as the match was in its infancy. Both my calves started to tighten as did my neck. Is this really what 40 feels like? I don't remember much of the first 10 minutes except for what I believe is one of the worst misses ever in the history of the club. Open goal, 6 yards out, nice steady pass, Chris puts it wide. The only excuse I can think of is that he was put off by Marks illuminous Green boots. It was the start of things to come.

A few minutes later after a good period of sustained pressure, Chris blasts the ball into the roof of the net. The remainder of the game was almost identical to Liverpool's last 20 games. Possession and chances from the Yellows but miss after miss after miss after miss. As time went by I feared the Whites would score, they had some half chances. They also had a stone wall penalty. Thank god the Plus 30s don't have penalties. Thanks Nick!

As the game went on, the Whites had more and more of the ball. Perhaps no one noticed but this was probably because I did almost nothing second half. Then, in the last minute they won a corner and very nearly equalised. We were not Liverpool after all!

Made up with the win but more made up to being playing and having a pint with my mates again.

MoM Andy Eyres – a solid performance
