Match Report

CAPTAINS CUP 1ST ROUND

Written by Blake Sheen

Well......where on earth do I start?

There are too many points to make, too many expletives I could use.......has this ever happened before?

Immediately after the horror show, I was called into work until 3am the next morning due to a crash shutdown off my refinery. The next few days were a blur. This, (coupled with the excessive amount of goals) is my excuse for the lack of details in the match report

There are however, no excuses for the performance or the result.

After another spell out with injury, I fully expected to have to pick on my return...and so it was.

I thought the teams were fairly balanced but looking at the team values on the web, it seems I'm out of touch. :)

The game started fairly evenly with my wildcard pick (Gary Lineker) looking a decent player. The Whites opened the scoring from a corner. Terrible marking in the box, text book header by Tom. Hard and low between my legs, just the way I like it. 1-0

The whites quickly followed with 2 goals. I can't remember either but both were gifts. 3-0

The Yellows continued to probe with lots of shots but no clear chances. Bren was proving effective again despite a broken nail and a tight hamstring.

Johnny then scored a belter, best goal of the match, no questions asked. Yellows sails were full 3-1

10 seconds later, Tom put a cross into the box, straight off Neil's back and looped past Brian into the net. Sails empty. 4-1

Shortly after, the Whites were on the attack again but the ball ran through to Brian or at least we thought it did. Turns out Brian was lying on the floor with his thumb up his arse. Sails ripped open and mast falling down. 5-1

At this point, most of the Yellows including myself had given up. None of us had had the best game and we weren't looking forward to seeing Richie naked in the shower.

After the 6th went in, I started to play the movie “Breakfast and Tiffanys” in my head. The only thing I remember about the remaining 5 goals was Ben's worldie. 11-1

A good performance from the Yellows and thoroughly deserved win.

Taking the positives, at least I'm not injured! See you next week
