Match Report

Written by Dave Owen

As the rain was coming down side ways there were a couple of late drop outs but numbers still good considering the conditions.

As I looked around at the mob that I had picked I realised that I had managed to select a team of midfielders and so decided to put myself and Andy E in defence.

We knocked the ball around nicely at the start but failed to really make any clear cut chances with the yellows defending deep. Johnny put himself in goal and was never really tested in the first half when we had the wind behind us.

At half time the ends were changed and the yellows had the advantage and made it count by putting some pressure on us and forcing Bren into a couple of decent saves. It felt like the game was heading for a probably deserved 0-0 as both teams were cancelling each other out. But with 4 minutes left a hopefully ball over the top of the defence landed on Richie's toe nail and found the back of the whites net!

It was a tough one to take as we had played well. But with only seconds left we threw everything at it, including me putting myself up front. And with pretty much the last kick of the game Paul S headed the ball, which held up in the wind and dropped into the net when it initially looked to be going over.

Yellows hardly had time to kick off again and it finished 1-1. Probably a fair result and it keeps it tight at the top of the table
