Our debut as captains was certainly eventful. I went with first & second pick of outfield players, knowing that Gary wouldn't sacrifice himself between the sticks (definitely not a mis-read of the teamsheet leaving me fuming I had to do the honourable thing and don the spare stinky gloves).

Yellows dominated possession and created chance after chance in the opening ten minutes, Bren was definitely the busier keeper until Harvey went in for a tackle with his face. All joking aside- a typical brave Harvey contesting every ball ended up with a nasty broken nose and had to leave for necessary medical assistance. A complete accident and H took it like a champ. Bren did a fantastic job of controlling the situation, reassuring everyone he'd seen worse, telling stories of lost limbs, and even offering to snap the broken nose back into place... I think everyone gave a sigh of relief when Harv politely declined!

Anyway back to the footy- playing the remainder of the game a man short gave yellows a lot of ground to cover. We had plenty of chances to take the lead but Jonny didn't have his shooting boots on- I think his stats were 0/14 shots on tgt despite comparing himself to Mo Salah in the pub afterwards!

A well worked passing move was rewarded with a deflected goal and gave us the game to chase. We thought we were still in it but conceded on the counter twice more. Chris rewarded for his box to box runs with a tap in at the back post, and then Gary W sealed his captains performance with a cheeky dink over his opposing C. A fitting way to take the W.

Man of the match: Jay for a hatrick against his U14 daughters side and then coming to the pub still to celebrate!

Real MOM- Neil: a solid composed performance throughout- passing out from the back under pressure was excellent.
