I was aware that it was mine and Neil's second leg early on Wednesday morning which meant one thing. All I could think about all day was my team selection. I was confident early on that Cush was going to be first pick. However, on arrival he announced to the group that he wasn't feeling it today... What should I do throw all my planning, formation and tactics out the window? NO! I just made sure my second pick was Graham as he never loses.
As the game started the white set up with a Pep style of play. Even with numerous chances missed I was confident that we would break through. Goal number one the to whites. Captain's cup here I come.
However, after a rally cry from Neil including a few tears. The yellows sorted their passing out. (Stopping route one balls from Brian). A quick bit of play saw them snatch the equaliser.
Whites carried on missing chance after chance. Some amazing saves from the numerous yellow goal keeper and some disgusting misses from the whites. The chances did however pay off in the end as the whites score 2 goals in quick succession.
For some reason at this point the whites lost their mojo. Could it be that the crowd (Gary P) had got in their heads? Or was it more that Tom previously self referred to ask Pep realised that Ederson, Walker, Diaz, Foden, De Bruyne and Jesus were absolutely goosed?! Whatever it was the yellows took advantage and brought the score back to 3-2.
It was a very nervy end to the game but we managed to hang on. Graham's 6 game unbeaten streak continues. There is a big target on his back now.
MOTM goes to Sylvain. What a man for turning up and making a making sure the game could be played.
