The day had finally arrived. The day I could clinch the league title. A point was all I needed however with Gary having first pick and the extra man I knew it was going to be a challenge. I made sure my whites new that it was all or nothing as I am unable to attend the final game and by letting Gary pick Jonny either of them would be able to overtake me.
Right from the start the extra man on the yellows was a clear advantage. They managed to make the most of the extra space and went a goal up. In a panic, I started thinking about changing formation until Andy convinced me to leave it for 10 minutes and it paid off. Because of the immense effort from all of the whites the tide had turned and we found ourselves 3-1 up with 20 minutes left. (Special mention for Blake's screamer! 5% shot accuracy but what a goal)
The dream was back alive. We realised straight away that the game wasn't over yet. With Jonny and Gary both having something to play for the whites couldn't rest on their laurels.
With 3 minutes to go the yellows equalised. One more goal and the dream would be over. Somehow we managed to hold on to the crucial point. In the words of Chris the yellows were lucky to get the draw!
I offered to write the match report for one reason. To thank the whites. How am I going to pick a MOTM?! What a performance from the lot of you! I appreciate the hard work.
Dave thanks for the tireless running up at the top.
Andy and Blake thanks for the box to box effort (and skill unlike Gary P)
Harvey thanks for the crucial moments at both ends of the pitch!
But I will have to give the MOTM to Paul. Let's let bygones be bygones! I'll put my handbag away for now ;)
