Match Report

Written by Nathan Rodway

I was horrified to find out I was captain after deciding to play last minute - Jonny's eyes lit up when he realised I didn't know 90% of peoples names. I didn't realise Cush had a real name either so he slipped through the net and ended up on the other team. The lucky dip approach to picking teams isn't recommended.

Anyway, the teams were picked and yellows had the extra man, the wind was behind them and the sun was in our eyes.

The first 15 minutes the yellows dominated and the whites couldn't keep hold of the ball, but all it resulted in was a worldy save from myself after a shot from Martin (Cush's real name for any newbies picking teams next week) - shortly after a back post tap in from Gary to make it 1-0.

The lead didn't last long as white's completed their first 4 passes in a row leading to a tidy goal from Gary W 30 seconds later.

That was the highlight for the whites and it was an uphill battle from there.

I came out of goal and made an immediate impact for the wrong reasons playing a back pass which was straight to Gary to finish off and that about summed up my day.

Paul scored a decent goal soon after but Tom flagged it for offside and said he had 7 touches but it still counted.

Paul later showing ultimate disrespect for his opponents nearly pulling off an over the head - back heel assist, thankfully it didn't quite come off and one of the whites later gave him a cheeky head-butt to let him know he can't be doing that!

The disrespect continued and it must have come from Jonny Mourinho's team talk as it was a common thread throughout this "friendly"

Our keeper was passing the ball back to the next pitch when Gary was played through and passed the ball into the empty net bringing cries of injustice from the other pitch as well as us - that one didn't count to be fair and Gary still managed to get a hat trick so he has to be the MOTM.

All in all, a disappointing game for the whites but a comfortable, well deserved win from the yellows and a fierce rivalry in the making between myself and Jonny!
