The Game of Gifts...

Written by Martin Cushing

First of all, thanks to Gary for putting me captain when I was carrying an injury.. I didn't moan at going in goal for once.

I felt Whites had a solid team throughout and our pressing from the front was rewarded early doors when Tom was handed a first minute goal on a plate... it still required a neat finish though 1-0. For a long time the game was pretty even with both teams trying to keep ball and play it about a bit. Both Joe and Jamie found themselves in great positions but couldn't make their shots count at either end.

After a change in keeper Yellows stepped it up a gear and I had to make a few unorthodox saves. Just as I was thinking the win was in the bag and I could celebrate a clean sheet Hackett forgot what team he was on and provided Nathan with a beautiful assist 1-1. Immediately after, James H dropped all the way back to full back and demanded the ball from me... this was his chance to grab the game by the balls and make his impact. One fucking touch and he'd given it straight to Nathan again for an absolute sitter 1-2. Impact indeed.

Yellows were now flying and we struggled to create any chances- Brian didn't have a save to make which really riled Tom "Bloody Jammy Bastards". Hackett redeemed himself by absolutely chopping Jamie in half, but that didn't stop him scoring the third a few minutes later- the best bit of football of the game where he side-footed (not thunderbastarded it and it went on target for once) off a neat one two counter attack 1-3... well done Nath.
