Match Report

Written by Jamie Hives

A new record of 10 players to stand down this week. A bit of controversy within the chat, should it be 11 a side? Have we got the legs? (No). Or perhaps rolling subs, or two games?

Either way, I was devastated to find I was captain and first pick during monsoon season, despite it being against the website schedule… nicely pointed out by Jay who clearly wasn't up for it either.

I had my team picked in my head on the way, and was extremely confident with my final selection, initially questioning if I was putting the names on the right side. No disrespect to Yellows, two extremely strong line ups again.

Another close first half, with it staying 0-0 for what felt at least 40 minutes.

Some great attacking play from Whites, but failing to hit the target at the crucial moments. Nathan Rodway putting about 50 just wide of the target, and some outrageous shots from Blake Sheen and Gary Parker. Familiarities of watching Blackpool on the weekend, or apparently myself, having earned 'End Product' as a nickname at the end of season do. Assuming it's referring to the fact I have none. Fair.

Yellows had begun to argue amongst themselves as Whites piled on the pressure with attack after attack, finally breaking the deadlock with a great team move finished by a tap in from Gary Wong, (I think?) 0-1.

G Wong and N Rodway link up play the middle saw the 100th effort on goal from Nathan deflected off the arse of someone into the back of the net. 0-2, and victory in sight for the Whites.

I had little saves to make at the other end, with only J Greenhall hitting the target from a tight angle and a few threats from long throw-ins. Apparently I 'bitch slapped' the ball out of play too? I was getting slightly cold toward the end.

A second goal from N Rodway earned him this week's MOTM for me, and even brought a cheer from the players warming up for the 9pm KO, turning his man with ease to make it 0-3, taking his tally to 5 this season and giving all 2 points to the Whites.

I hadn't told anyone I used to play in goal, but combined with a solid performance at the back from the Parker bro's, Sheen and Cush, the Whites earned only the second clean sheet of the season. Disappointed no points awarded.

(I genuinely don't know if Gary and Neil are actually related? It would make sense. A strong defensive duo nonetheless.)

I'll look after the bags Jay.
