Match Report

Written by Ross Cornford

On a very wet and wonderful night for the yellows, me and Chris were selected as captains, I had first pick hence the match report, picking mostly a defensive team with a few superstars upfront, I was fairly confident. In the opening exchanges I felt like the yellows were very much on top. The yellows missed chance after chance, could it finally be James' night to break his losing streak! Neil came in with what he's just said was a Top quality strike from the left side of the goal into the roof of the net. He was pretty sure it was about an inch away from hitting Harvey in the face.

1 up and deservedly so.

The whites came back into the game bossing the midfield, but their chances came from outside the area, Neil, Paul and Ed were brilliant at the back keeping out all the pressure from the whites. Nick E and Brian were fantastic in midfield.

But then out of nowhere Joe took Brian out very cruelly, Brian went down with a shriek and rolled round for 5 minutes like he'd been shot and that was the end of him. Brian in goal and myself as right mid. I don't know if I'm shite at right mid or Brian's a terrible goal keeper but the whites were level very quickly with a nice finish from Andy. 1-1 Game on, James had hope once again.

Then what can be described as the most dubious corner decision all season left the yellows in disarray as the ball came bobbling through to James and he back heeled it into the far post. 2-1 whites. 20 minutes to go, could this be the day that James 9 game losing streak could come to an end.

Just hold on for 20 more minutes and this miserable miserable run could all be over. The next ten minutes passed by with a few half chances for both teams.

Now in the world there are two types of mates, good mates are the ones that help you out in the hour of need. The other is the type to kick you when you're down and have a good laugh about it later. I'm glad Nick S is the latter. Two goals in the last five minutes made the yellows 3-2 up, Nicks second goal was brilliantly taken, skinned two players and waited and waited for the keeper to dive before slotting home. Then the final whistle came and James' place in the history books confirmed.

3-2 yellows good game. Thanks Chris for a good match.

Man of the match goes to Nick Evans.
