Match Report

Written by James Hewson

A long anticipated return fixture between Harvey and myself finally came around. Due to Harvey being out for a few weeks with injury I thought I held the advantage going into the game as I knew what form players have been in these past few weeks. Turns out consistency doesn’t exist on a Wednesday night.

I only had a 5-1 defeat to turn around from my first game , surely it wasn’t impossible. I lined up with what I thought was a good team structure but later found out at the pub that I was the only one who knew this structure.

A white team which hadn’t fully woke up and all seemed to be playing on the left led to early break from the yellowsand having saved the initial shot Nick taped in from close range.

As the game went on it was a frustrating evening for both teams , for yellows it was Dave and Nick E winning everything and breaking on the counter and for the whites it was Nick S hitting the bar from 1 yard out and numerous shots being saved from Harvey in net.

The yellows doubled their lead from a counter again and then an excellent link up from Jay and Nick S ended up reducing the lead from 2 to 1, whites started pushing the pressure on through Andy , Cush , Jamie and Nathan in the middle and then towards the latter stages of the game, we had a shot and Gary P , in Pickford esque style, made a great save , therefore I’m putting this game down as 2-2.

It was more entertaining later on in the pub however as we found out Brian has a secret crush on Jay and his £700 tool and that the bikini lady had turned into Jack Sparrow this week and Bren couldn’t help but comment on it.

All the best to Harvey in the Captains cup and fingers crossed I get out the duffers!

MOM - could have gone to Gary P for that save but giving it to Jay, caused the yellows defence problems and took his goal nicely.
