Match Report

Written by Dave Owen

With odd numbers this week I got the honour of choice and took a gamble of first pick hoping that a little bit of extra quality would over come the extra man. This was a bad choice…Firstly;  because we lost, and secondly; because we had to do a f*ck load of extra running. So apologies to all the yellows!

So the whites started using their man advantage immediately and dominated the possession. Yellows struggled to get out of their half but Jay offered a good outlet when they did. Despite some resolute defending and great stops from Bren the whites got the first goal with Gary P finding the net.

The relief of finally getting in front potentially brought some complacency with it however. Cush attempting a ‘rabona’ only to kick it out for a throw in and whites getting some more of the ball and managing to force some chances. Following a corner one of these was tucked away by Jamie. 1-1 and game on.

Possession back to being dominated by the yellows who found another gear again and with legs starting to tire a characteristic long range thunderbolt from Jonny found the corner. 2-1 down but the yellows did not roll over. More counter attacking stuff was proving semi successful at times, Brian ‘de bruyne’ Moses proving he has a wand of a right foot with a cross from deep that Jay duly put away. Back to 2-2 and a score I would have happily settle for with only 10 mins to go!

Cush had other ideas though and drove through the midfield and hit a super strike on the run which crashed off the far post and in. Tom added a forth to finish off the result and give the victory to Jonny.

Amazing effort by the yellows but in the end the extra man made all the difference.

MOM is a difficult one as, per usual, there were some great performances, mixed in with plenty of shite ones. But Jay edged it for his great solo hold up play and excellent finished header.
