Match Report

Written by Brendan Crilley

Late match report after email glitch and a likely points fine doesn’t take away the joy of having won as a captain for the first time in a long while.

Harvey and I picked and the teams were very evenly matched. Cush opting to be keeper and making several brilliant saves to keep the score even and a brilliant headed goal by newbie Pete giving me the win.

The game ebbed and flowed with both teams had several chances to take the win. Paul doing his best to chop Jay in half only to find himself body slammed to the ground in a crumbling heap by Nick (Twinnie) as he lost the Goliath tussle but only on this occasion.

The pub was really well attended and celebrations went on into the night in The Magpie until 2.30am and a realisation that we all needed to be somewhere at 8am.

Mom is a difficult decision, not just because Richie was on the pitch, but because both teams had candidates equally deserving. Pete gets it for his tireless running in the midfield, his hissy fit mid game after flattening the busy Gary, and the eventual winning header goal.
