Following a brilliant team bonding session at the weekend it was disappointing to see more 'not playings' than real men on the check in. Sort it out for next week boys.
Tom brought me the picking board with the news we had the honours. Good news was I had choice and went with first pick and a keeper! This decision was the game winner I think. 6v7 meant a lot of running and everyone put a shift in. Maybe the tired legs and long term effects of Oktoberfest were the reason some of the shooting was so horrific! The amount of balls skied over the fences was high even for us. And Johnny wasn't even playing!
The scoring was eventually opened with a screamer from Harvey that reminded me of Jack Harrisons first goal for the mighty blues. I scored our second goal after nutmeging Andy and slotting it past Tom who probably should've done better. Unlike Bren at the opposite end who not only pulled off multiple worldie saves but also got himself an assist with a great counter attack set up for Jamie's first goal (of his non-hat-trick). I had a chance to put the game to bed but bottled it when Laurie came bearing down on me- attempted to set Chris up for a tap in but overplayed it.
Jamie scored two more near identical goals on the break with the whites pushing to get back in it. The third was controversially denied with a rogue 'time' call though. I shall be holding onto this until the second leg is settled. I'm counting it as away goals should Tom win 4-0 next time!
Man of the match has to go to Bren for stopping shot after shot. Including a save where he ended up crashing into the post and moving the goals... fortunately... as they hit the other post with the follow up shot.
Enjoyed the game and the weekend. All agreed- we should all go out on the piss more.
