Having a 9-2 loss on my back since the 2nd game of the season, this fixture was certainly one I'd been looking forward to, although I probably would have preferred it not to be the first game back after Christmas…

Arriving at Vauxhalls at 19:49 I didn't have long to prep the team selection, but with 6v6 the teams were quickly on the board and I started to plan the team talk. I couldn't think of anything inspiring to say, so instead offered to buy everyone a pint if we turned it around.

To be honest the game had started pretty evenly, with chances at either end and both keepers making some crucial saves to keep it even (obviously still me at this point.)

Dave O was the first to admit he'd drank too much over the festive break and offered to go in goal. This seemed to work, as (almost) every ball I kicked (somehow) found the back of the net, and with a quick hat-trick and a Gary W goal, the comeback was on at 4-0.

Whites grabbed one back through Nick S, who eventually escaped from Hackett's back pocket, (though only briefly…) but I managed to close the gap even further by netting another 2, however unfortunately it was not to be. Full time, Yellows 6 - 1 Whites.

Tough call for MoM with excellent performances all round, especially Yellow's keepers. But for me it has to be the defensive performance from Paul Hackett, who technically wasn't last pick!
