Match Report

Written by Laurie Evans
Thought this was gonna be my luck night. First Bob tossed up to see who would go through between Andy and I. I called heads and heads it was. It was a void because Andy wasn't there. We did it again with Andy and I called heads again and won again (sorry Andy). Then it came to first pick and heads it was again (perhaps I'd have been better losing).

The game started and we struggled at first to get going with the yellows dominating play, leaving Mac stranded up front to live off scraps (you'd never know to look at him). We started to play some better football and the game turned into a very even contest. After a great move involving at least 3 passes, Mac had the goal at his mercy and the ball took a bobble (so he says) and ended up wide.

The opposition were restricted to mainly long range efforts due to a marvellous effort by probably one of the oldest recorded defences in football. Unfortunately it was one of those efforts that last seasons top scorer Ali seized upon. He hit a strong shot from well out. I thought that'll be no problem for Ken and I hardly looked. When I did look it was to see Ken's arse as he bent down to pick the ball out of the net.

The game went on and we came very close after a good move with Nick hitting the post. Still I thought we might squeeze a draw. Even putting Sheeney up front didn't help the cause. I guess all my luck was off the pitch that night.

It was a really good close game. Well done Paul and good luck in the final. Or should I say.......bon chance Pierre
