Match Report

Written by Ken Hughes
Firstly a disclaimer regarding accuracy, as I am posting this on behalf of Ken, who has just dropped his match report, by Triumph Motorcycle to mine.

Just as well I've placed a disclaimer, as I have just read his report and alterations are being made as I type.

The match started well for Ken's team with an early goal. Later on in a tight well played match, a low cross from Mac, was rolled sweetly into the path of Neil, who calmly slotted it home, giving the goalkeeper no chance. The yellow team continued to look dangerous on the break and through this pressure, Gary forced a mistake from the usually assured Carl, by pinching the ball from him, right in front of the goal and slotting it past a static Dave Graney.

The whites were shaken by this, as they had been becoming the more dominant team, but the usual positive words of encouragement from the left back Alan Austin, soon got them back on track.

A second goal for Dave's team quickly followed. A shot came in from the right and Ken unsure that the ball was going wide, decided to palm it away, however out of the corner of his eye, he saw his nemesis, goal hanging Mac, coming towards him and as a consequence Ken turned the ball into his own net.

Dave's midfield was becoming more dominant as the game wore on, once again showing the value of first pick. Neil collected the ball on the right and hit a superb cross to Mac who was completely unmarked. Mac stooped and headed the ball towards the goal. It was headed with such ferocity that Ken was unable to hold onto to it and Chris came into the goal area, at his usual pace, collected the ball and slotted it home.

The game was coming to a end, when a defensive error by Bob, left Kenny completely stranded, as Neil robbed the ball off his father and once again stroked it past Ken, who by this time was fed up and chunnering to himself.
