Match Report
Written by Gary ParkerA full turnout meant Ali and I had a lot to think about when picking our teams. I had first pick, and by the end was very happy with my team. Despite Ali pointing out I had made the glaringly obvious mistake of not picking my dad first. But I thought, no, we'll be fine, we are well covered in all positions.
As Ali and I had no designated goalies, we both decided to start off in goal. I felt we were comfortable from the start and were creating some good chances. Ben and Chris getting some shots away too. Eventually the deadlock was broken when Chris fired a low shot around Geoff and Mark into the bottom corner.
Ali and I then came out of goal. Ali scored with his first shot I think. Hitting the ball low and ... slow, I think must have confused Phil, as the ball hit his wrist and spun into the goal.
From then on all the pressure was on the whites as the yellows bombarded them with attack after attack. But nothing could break them down, Bob, Brian and Woodsy soaking up every attack. Woodsy so comfortable in fact he started showboating at right back. I can only recall one chance we had, and that was when Geoff laid a fantastic through ball to me which I enthusiastically blasted wide.
Well played whites and thanks for the effort yellows.
MOM Bob. Cool, calm and composed throughout. I've learnt my lesson Ali.
