Match Report

Written by Blake Sheen
It was Andy's first week back after an extended break from the beautiful game. Sporting the loveliest pair of brand new astro's he looked no different than usual. Somewhat unluckily, he was thrown into picking against club legend and now Ron Jeremy lookalike Me!

He first asked, is there anything I need to know? Who is on form? I replied, "why the f*ck would I tell you that!?" I went for first pick which was obviously big Geoff, Andy went for Gary, I went for the second family member Dave, he went for Chris. I this point, I decided that this would be a game of pace against class. I picked accordingly.

- Picking Kenny early would endure Grainey would be in goal for them lol
- Neil would play awesome since he would be battling against his brother.
- Nick is improving week by week
- Geoff and Dave would obviously put in a shift for me
- Bob and Ben are class
- All we needed now was for Phil to have a blinder mega lol

With following teams, they were never going to get in behind. All we needed to do was stop them shooting.

Yellows:
Blake, Geoff, Dave, O Kenny, Bob, Phil, Neil, Nick, Ben

Whites
Andy, Dave G, Dave W, Laurie, Mark, Gary, Chris, Paul, Brian, Mac,

The plan seemed to be working the Whites were putting on a bit of early pressure but with no real chances. Step up our right back Phil Mealor. A neat cut in from the right and a right foot to beat Graney at his near post. Not even Bartez was saving that one.

The game continued along the same lines. I sat in front of the back 4 and watching every player from my team playing out their skin. Then......an annoyance. I felt a tweak in my back. It had been annoying me all week but I decided to play through. Shortly after, another worldie of a goal. Nick cut in from the left and drilled a shot in, again at the near post. The shot was so hard I didn't see the ball move. Not even Scott Carson was saving that one!

The game was fairly even after that I thought. Nick was having a great game, linking up well with Geoff on the left. Ben and Dave were telepathic in their movement. Neil and Bob were embarrassing Gary, Kenny was solid as usual and I still can't think of any words to describe Phils performance.

Next, a few key moments. I found myself through on goal against Dave. Again, like some many times before, he guessed right and stuck out a leg. It's so annoying, he always goes right and saves it. Next time I'll put it to his left. That will fool him!

Shortly after, the Whites scored. Gary found himself with loads of space in the middle of the park, 3 of our players slipped as did he. He scuffed the ball into the ground, it deflected off 3 of our players and rolled slowly into the empty net. Kenny was on the next pitch giving the ball back. That's how I remember it anyway.

We knew they would come at us for a bit so we attacked harder, such is the mentality of this team. Dave whipped in a cross from the right, Ben ZeMackay produced a finish of unbelievable quality. 3-1 Match won

MOM.....a very tough decision.....Phil Mealor!!
