Match Report
Written by Bob ParkerGameweek 11 brought together 2 giants of the game, Geoff and myself. Not for our football ability but for the fact we are both over 6 foot! I won the toss and decided to have 1st pick, and Geoff would have the extra man.
I started in goal, and would have a diamond formation in midfield. The game started with a lot of pressure from the Whites, with Ali looking threatening, and some good defensive blocks from Neil. Yellows were starting to get some possession and playing some neat football, with Ben as a lone striker holding things up and allowing our midfield to break forward. As the game progressed I decided to change keeper, and Brian took over. Not long after that Mac had found himself a yard outside the goal as he received a pass and with quick control and turn, he kicked the ball over the advancing Brian. 1-0 to the whites. Maybe against the run of play.
We were desperate to get to level terms as it would have been an injustice to lose on such a soft goal!(sorry Mac). It wasn't long before the equaliser came and what a goal it was. Ben received the ball and with some neat play found Nick on the left who advanced to goal and shot with such power, Ken didn't notice the ball had flew passed him. Yellows had come close earlier with hitting the woodwork on a number of occasions and Ken doing some double saves, it was only right they got something out of the game.
There were no more further goals and the game finised 1-1. A tight game played in the best of spirit. Well done to both sides, and all to play for in the 2nd game.
Man of the match Nick, who seems to be improving each week.
