A decent turnout this Wednesday saw 16 players turning up for the game. So as usual Gary looked through the list of available games that could be played. However myself and Nick were chosen to play our Captains Cup tie...(which I wasn't expecting this early in the season!). The picking of the teams commenced and then entered the field of battle.

The match kicked off and immediately Nick's Yellows were putting pressure on my team, with the pace of Chris and Gary both linking up well.
It seemed as though our team needed to 'park a bus' for the majority of this match!!!

The yellows relentless attacking saw our team pinned in our half and forced some fine saves from Ken in goal! eventually we were able to push up the field slightly but, on doing so, a threaded pass from wide from Gary found Chris who was able to slot home to put Nick 1-0 up in the game.

The game went on, we were still pushing up as much as we could, with Andy E and Ali testing Nick in goal, sadly to no avail.

With about 10 mins to go I decided we needed to go all out attack and changed the formation to allow 2 strikers. Unfortunately this didn't come off as we just couldn't seem to thread that last ball through.

About 2 minutes from time, Nick threw the ball from his area and this then bounced over Phil, leaving Gary in on goal. He took his first shot well, but this was met with a fine save from Kenny at point blank range. Sadly though, it dropped back down into Gary's path and he scored from this. 2-0 and time was then called.

A decent game overall but just didn't go right on the night for my team. Good luck Doc on the next round!!

My man of the match would have to be Ken, producing a fine few saves and kept my team in the match for a long period of the game.
