Match Report

Written by Andy Eyres
Note to Gary: need to explain how the games beyond picking captains are chosen, sheets not easy to follow...

In light of the above, the only game to play was me vs Blake, despite previous leg having odd sides.

Lowest turn out of the year, meant we just scraped 6 a side, so plenty of space to exploit.
I went for pace and ensured Aly was in my side as the player in tremendous form, but then offered to go in goal first!

I went for a 2-2-1 formation having had a chat with Brendan prior to the game (Dave and Paul at the back, Me and Chris central, Mac up top)
My tactics were quickly exposed, as we were overrun in the first 10 minutes - 1-0 to yellows (Andy M)
Mac (with his keen tactical eye) duly informed me i was being a '"shit captain" and i should not be playing both him and Dave W out with such space to run into. Mac then went in goal to release Aly, and the whites then started to cause problems.
Chris played a ball into space for Andy E to run onto, being charged at by Ken, i got the feintest of toes before jumping out of the way of 'raging bull'
1-1
With a more dynamic front 3, we soon took control of the game, Andy E setting up Aly for our 2nd and his first
2-1
Mac came out, swapping for Dave W, and was strong at the back, he soon set up Aly for his second with a nice through ball
3-1 - this equalled the score from the first leg, so penalties were looking likely.

Both teams were pressing, fine saves from Mac and Dave, coupled with some poor shooting from the yellows kept the scoreline in my favour.
I needed 1 more goal to get into the Captains cup, and with Aly on fire it was him who cut in from the right to set up Chris for a 2 yard 'tap in' which seemed to happen in slow motion.

4-1 and passage to Captains cup secured, commiserations to Blake, but makes up for last year, close game despite the scoreline, and hard work with 6-a-side.
Back in the Changing room, main topics included the cold showers, and me being a shit captain!!

Notable performers:
Paul H - For giving the ball away at every opportunity ;)
Dave W - For declaring himself MOM after the first 10 minutes - he was not wrong!
Mac - Honest as ever and tactically astute, which is odd for an Evertonian!
The Mealors - Marauding down the right all game (still can't throw though)

My MOM: All my team worked tirelesley, well played all - Aly with his goals, but it goes to Mac - without his abuse, insight, assist, solid in goal, calming at the back i probably would have lost.

4-1
Andy E (assist Chris)
Aly 2 (assist Andy E, Mac)
Chris (assist Aly)

Andy M (assist Mark A i think)

Cheers
Andy "Shit Captain" Eyres
