Match Report
Written by Laurie EvansI must say that Carl let me off lightly at the picking board. Having said that when I looked at the combined age of our 3 defenders of nearly 180 I thought we might struggle defensively. Those fears were unfounded with the whites hardly threatening our goal during the game and when they did Ken was solid as a rock as usual.
The windy conditions made playing good football tricky but the Yellows started well and created several good chances that weren't converted. We eventually got the ball in the net with a good strike from Mac. The Whites were battling to get back in to the game when a harmless looking through ball from Ali deceived Dave in goal and bounced over him into the empty net. I thought that kind of thing only happened to me. Thanks Dave.
We missed more chances and I was just thinking the Whites might make us pay for them when some neat interplay between Ali and Mac saw Ali score from a tight angle.
The game continued with the Whites only making half chances mainly due to Sheeney being outstanding in a central defensive midfield role. Nothing got past him. Richie finally sealed things with a fourth goal
